New Families Orientation (NFO) will be completely virtual this year and we are working hard to provide families with the information they need to feel comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable in their student's transition. Your student's wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of our planning.

Prior to the start of your student's O-Week experience, families will have their own virtual welcome to Rice University. This welcome begins with a series of newsletters and ends with a formal goodbye to your student on move in day (for those who elect to live on campus). These newsletters contain important information from various departments across campus. Faculty and staff will provide information on how to connect with them to learn more about their services and as you have questions.

In the beginning of August, we will kick off our virtual information sessions hosted by offices that are vital to your student's success. These will be available in a pre-recorded webinar format in order to increase access worldwide and allow you to re-watch throughout the term. Prior to the start of O-Week, families will also have the opportunity to hear from President David Leebron, Dean Bridget Gorman, the Magisters of your student's college, and current Rice University students.

For Rice students who will be moving on campus mid-August, we will provide all parties with detailed move-in information prior to their arrival date. We are committed to making this a safe and special experience for your family.
