New Families Orientation (NFO) was completely virtual in 2020. This year 2021, we are working hard to provide families with an in person experience. Prior to our New Families Orientation scheduled for Sunday, August 15th, we will share information parents and family members need to feel comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable prior to their student's transition. Your student's wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of our planning.

Prior to the start of your student's O-Week experience, families will have their own virtual introductions to Rice University. This communication began with a series of newsletters and ended with a formal goodbye to your student on move in day (for those students who elected to live on campus). These newsletters contained important information from various departments across campus. Faculty and staff also provided information on how to connect with them to learn more about their services and as you have questions.

In the beginning of August 2020, we kicked off our virtual information sessions hosted by offices that are vital to your student's success. These pre-recorded webinars are linked below to increase access worldwide and allow you to re-watch throughout the term. Prior to the start of O-Week 2020, families had the opportunity to hear from President David Leebron, Dean Bridget K. Gorman, the Magisters of your student's college, and current Rice University students.

For Rice students who will be moving on campus mid-August 2021, we will provide all parties with detailed move-in information prior to their arrival date. We are committed to making this a safe and special experience for your family.
