The Rice Swipe Support Program: Dining Access Fund, funded by Housing, Dining, & Hospitality and managed in partnership with Student Success Initiatives (SSI), provides assistance to undergraduate students with demonstrated need who do not currently have a meal plan.
Unlike previous peer-to-peer donation models that delayed access, this new program provides students with meal support from the very start of the semester.
This program is intended for those who are facing barriers to accessing regular meals due to financial or personal hardship. Students may receive a block of swipes to use at any dining servery on campus. Swipes are loaded directly onto your student ID and used just like any regular meal plan swipe.
How do I request support?
- Submit a request through this form by August 20, 2025 at 11:59pm.
- Students will be notified of their application status by August 26.
Want to Show Your Support?
- Rice Housing, Dining, & Hospitality and Dean of Undergraduates provide institutional funding to support the Rice Food Pantry and other essential resources.
- Students can now donate unused Campus Dollars (tetras) to help expand this program and support their fellow Owls. This is a great way to show community care and make a direct impact.
- Students interested in advocating for food insecurity on campus are encouraged to join Stock the Nest, a new student organization aimed at supporting local campus initiatives such as the Rice Food Pantry while simultaneously raising awareness and support for community food access through organizational partnerships.
- Rice community members are also invited to support the Pantry through financial contributions that help expand and sustain access for students. We also accept unexpired, non-perishable donations at our main SSI office in the RMC cloisters.
