The Guest Meal Swipe Donation Program is designed to mitigate food insecurity on Rice’s campus by providing access to hot meals via the Residential College Serveries. This program is a collaborative effort between the Student Association, Housing and Dining, Student Success Initiatives, and the Dean of Undergraduates Division.
Food insecurity has risen significantly, especially among college students. Covid-19 dramatically changed students' access to necessities like food and healthcare. As a result, the Guest Meal Swipe Donation Program is even more important than it has been in the past.
To donate guest meal swipes:
As part of this program, students with a 20 meal-per-week plan may donate between one and 30 of their guest meal swipes to off-campus students who may be experiencing food insecurity. To donate your guest meal swipes, please see the Swipe Donation Form. This form will close January 27 for the spring 2025 semester.
To request guest meal swipes:
Undergraduate students with demonstrated need, who do not currently have an on-campus meal plan, can request to be considered for the guest swipe program. To request meal swipes, please complete the Swipe Request Form.
This form will close January 27 at 11:59pm for the spring 2025 semester. Applicants after the deadline will not be considered. Recipients of the meal swipe donations will not see a change in their account until they are notified via email by February 10. Please note, you must be logged into your Rice Google account to access the form.
If you miss either the deadline for donations or requests, please check this page for updates; you can also follow on Instagram the Student Association, Student Success Initiatives, and Housing & Dining for updates. We also invite you to use the Pantry and apply to the Access and Opportunity Portal for financial assistance.
