UNIV 110 Fall 2015 Peer Guides

Michael Donatti

Michael is a senior in Mechanical Engineering who has done his best to take advantage of the Rice experience. He loves good food, being active, and traveling (really though, ask him about it). He is a caring listener and a fun guy to hang out with, so be excited about getting to know him during UNIV 110 and beyond. He’s definitely excited to get to know you!

Ola Elechi

Ola Elechi is a senior from Will Rice College. She is originally from Nigeria, though now currently lives in Richmond, Texas. She is majoring in Kinesiology – Sports Medicine with a minor in Biochemistry. She is pre-med and hopes to one day attend medical school. Ola is passionate about dance and is a member of the Rice Owls Dance Team. She is also a member of the Rice African Student Association and is the Vice President for the upcoming school year. Ola is excited to be a UNIV 110 Peer Guide and looks forward to meeting the new students in her section!

Muhammad Harirah

Hello, person reading this! My name is Muhammad Harirah! I’m a senior at McMurtry College majoring in Psychology and double-minoring in Biochemistry & Cell Biology and Neurosciences. I’m currently a pre-med in the cycle of applying to medical schools. When I’m not working on schoolwork, I enjoy partaking in graphic design ventures, hunting for the coolest fonts online, or watching (a lot of) TV. If I had to provide one interesting fact about myself, I always fall back on this one: my last name is a palindrome.

Alex Hayes

Alex Hayes is majoring in Spectacular Indecision. Originally from Reno, Nevada, he’s currently a sophomore at Baker, now spending most of his free time helping hold down the fort at R.O.P.E. (Rice Outdoor Programs & Education). He spends his summers guiding canoe trips in the Boundary Waters, once spent a year living in Madrid, and can occasionally be found throwing a disc or stealing candy from an R2 meeting.

Taylor Neal

Taylor is a senior who is studying Psychology and wants to one day use her “academic powers” for the betterment of mankind and its use of technology. You can find her hanging around Wiess College, lending her hand to various organizations on campus, working at the IT Helpdesk or doing Human Factors research. If you do not know what Human Factors is, she will be all too happy to tell you. As a returning peer guide, she is hoping to be a great resource for the new students in UNIV and cannot wait to learn from them as well.

Blaque Robinson

Blaque Robinson is a senior from Wiess College majoring in Sociology. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin she is often busy finding ways to make Rice University a better place for minority students, researching solutions to various problems found in the US education system, and choreographing her next dance production. Even though she is known as the queen of sass by her friends, she is always available to serve as a listening ear and is always eager to help new students find their niche at Rice. Blaque is so excited to serve as a Peer Guide for the second time and is looking forward to meeting the new students and watching the next generation of Rice leaders grow!

Leah Topper

Leah is a senior at McMurtry from Norcross, GA. She’s majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, but she entered Rice undecided about her major and waited to declare it until the end of sophomore year. You can frequently find her at the gym doing group exercise classes, at Yogurtland eating froyo (literally 3 times a week), or at Hillel making challah. She reaaaaally wants to live abroad and explore the world, but she’s still figuring out what she’ll do after she graduates from Rice. She’s got a unique connection to another college, too: her grandparents were Masters at Hanszen College. She was a McMurtry Coordinator for O-Week 2015, and she’s super excited to continue meeting and advising new students as a peer-guide for UNIV 110!
