What is something you're proud of this year?

I am proud of getting through my first year at Rice as a FGLI student.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

The advice I would give to my freshman self is to not be so hard on yourself. Don’t beat yourself up for not having the advantages other students have. As long as you try your best, that is good enough.

How have you utilized the SSI office this year? How has SSI been beneficial for you this year?

I’ve utilized SSI throughout my first year to help me learn new study strategies and to adjust to Rice.

Any advice for other students?

I would remind other students that their worth is not defined by their grades. As a high achieving student, it was really hard for me not to think the worse when I failed my first exam, but with the help of SSI I was able to take each failure as a learning opportunity, rather than a description of who I am.
