What advice would you give to your freshman self?
College is such a season of learning, of course more noticeable academically but also in terms of personal growth, so keep an open mind! Being flexible and adaptable is such a strength.
How have you utilized the SSI office this year? How has SSI been beneficial for you this year?
I have used the SSI office to check in and keep me on track with graduation in terms of study strategies, motivation, and also personal advising including post-grad plans. Without the individualized support, I don't think I would have made it through this final stretch. There was so much reassurance and a consistent reminder of the community I'm a part of that it made it a lot more bearable.
Any advice for other students?
It's very easy to compare yourself and your accomplishments to the many other talented individuals here at Rice. There are so many opportunities available to us, but realistically it's not possible to do everything, and that's okay. Some people will get really involved and excel in certain areas, but it's important to keep in mind that they may not necessarily be your own strengths or interests in the first place.
