What is something you’re proud of this year?
I am proud of the positions I have held this year, one being Rice African Student Association - Event Coordinator, being able to work with underclassmen to produce a wonderful play production while creating relationships with students from all different years.
What advice would you give to your freshman self?
A piece of advice I can give is, do not be afraid of failure or making mistakes; it is going to happen eventually, but it is your ability to learn from them that will make a difference!
How have you utilized the SSI office this year? How has SSI been beneficial for you this year?
I have used the SSI office as a means of navigating through the resources readily available on campus. Finding one-on-one support with an advisor who can advise me. Quite honestly, use the SSI office to just talk.
Any advice for other students?
The last piece of advice I have is not to compare yourself to others. Trust me when I say this: everyone has their own paths in life; your race is not theirs. At the end of the day, Rice chose you for a reason, and you deserve a spot here.
