i-PREP (August 2018 TBD) is a required check-in and orientation program for all new non-immigrant foreign national undergraduate and exchange students that precedes O-Week
Yes, international students need to participate in both programs. iPREP is coordinated by the Office of International Students and Scholars and O-Week is run by First Year Programs. During iPREP, international students will review immigration regulations and legal information specific to their visa type and have time to take care of the logistics involved in moving to a new place, such as: shopping for bedding, opening a bank account, and purchasing a cell phone. O-Week helps all new students get acclimated to the residential college system, provides time and activities to meet new friends, directs students on how to register for classes, and provides information on the multitude of services available for students on-campus. Both i-PREP and O-Week are required programs designed to facilitate a successful transition to Rice University and the United States.
